The safari-style camp is unfenced, and each of the eight canvas tents stand on a wooden platform. The tents are also under thatch and each has twin or double beds, a wooden deck and en-suite bathroom.
The camp accommodates 16 guests in total. There is a small waterhole across the riverbed to which animals flock for a drink of fresh water.
NB: Guests should only leave their tents in camp if they are in the company of one of our qualified guides at night. During the day it is safe to walk from your tent to the main area (just stick to the pathways and don’t wonder off into the bush).
The general bush-camp area includes the covered, thatched-roof dining and lounge area, the camp kitchen, a central African fireplace (boma), and a small swimming pool.
Shindzela uses solar-powered lights, gas geysers and candles. Charging station (no power points in the tents).
Free Wi-Fi is available.
Shindzela Tented Camp offers guests a daily breakfast after the morning game drive, as well as a mid-afternoon lunch and supper after the late-afternoon/night game drive. Visitors can also help themselves to coffee and rusks before the first (morning)game drive, and our guides treat guests to sundowners as part of the second (afternoon/evening) safari of the day, weather permitting.
In addition to an English or Continental breakfast, our menus include roasts, South African barbeques (braais), vegetables, salads and fruit.
Guests with special dietary requirements should inform reservationsof this at the time of booking.
Breakfast and lunch are served in the lounge/dining room area. Supper is served in the boma area, around the camp fire (weather permitting).
We operate a bar (please ask your guide to assist), and there are wildlife and other books to relax with if you are not watching the local birdlife or animals drinking at the waterhole across the riverbed.
All drinks, except purified water from a dispenser in the lounge area, are for guests’ own account. This can be settled upon departure in cash or credit card (Visa and MasterCard).
Shindzela Tented Camp uses mostly customised Land Cruiser 4×4 vehicles that can seat a maximum of 10 guests each. Game drives are conducted by experienced guides and trackers.
